What Is A Bunion?
A bunion is a bony deformity of the joint at the base of the big toe; it is known as a hallux valgus. The big toe starts to point towards the other toes on the same foot, bunions tend to run in families and more likely in people with flexible joints hence why the can occur in children.
What You Might Experience:
- Swollen, bony bump on the outside of the foot
- Pain and swelling over your big toe
- Sore skin over the top of the bunion
How Can It Be Treated?
Unfortunately as it’s a bony problem, surgery is the only solution. However, advice can be given by a foot health professional to prevent further progression of the deformity.
